It's a Love Song Link-Up!

by Hallie @ Moxie Wife on July 2, 2012

As I mentioned in last Friday’s 7 Quick Takes, I thought it might be fun to do a little Love Song Link-Up!

If you’d like to join in, simply share a list of your favorite love songs over on your blog, then add a link to the Mister Linky list below. (Make sure the link you submit is to the URL of your post and please include a link back here. Thank you!)

Just in case it doesn’t go without saying, no need to search for and embed YouTube videos unless you just want to! I might have gotten a little carried away. What can I say? Love songs do that to me.

Also, your picks need not meet the traditional definition of a love song. If they have meaning to you and your sweetheart, they’re love songs as far as I’m concerned.

Have fun! I can’t wait to see your picks!

London by Night by Greg Laswell

Happy Hour by The Housemartins

Come Rain or Come Shine by Ray Charles

Love is Hear to Stay by Ella Fitzgerald

Cosmic Girl by Jamiroquai

How Little it Matters by Frank Sinatra

Buddy Holly by Weezer

Nightswimming by REM

We are in Love by Harry Connick, Jr.

A Kiss to Build a Dream On by Louis Armstrong

I LOVE this idea! I can’t wait to hear some new songs/be reminded of some old favorites. Also: Jamiroquai always reminds me of the closing dance from Center Stage (the one with the totally, ridiculously implausible hair and makeup change), which makes me love them. That movie is cheese, but it’s entertaining cheese!!

Lindsay @ Lindsay Loves July 3, 2012 at 12:23 am

Haha. I thought I would be late since I’m posting in the middle of the night. I’ve never been able to participate in any of your link-ups since I’ve been reading (I’m not married), so I’m doubly excited. Thanks for hosting and for sharing!

Thanks, Lacey! And yes! Center Stage was definitely entertaining cheese! :)

Oh man… “A Kiss To Build a Dream On”… gets me every time! (And believe me, I’ve played it LOTS of times!) Fun idea- thanks for sharing!

Hallie @ Betty Beguiles July 3, 2012 at 8:27 am

It never gets old, does it? Louis Armstrong is the man. :)

Oh, Hallie, this is so fun! I have a sneaky feeling I’m not going to get anything done this morning, because after I go through all the songs and videos on the link up, I’ll be chasing down my own. You linked to our wedding song (though we chose the Clapton/B. B. King version of “Come Rain or Come Shine”), so my morning is already full of smiles. And I haven’t heard “Nightswimming” in ages. I’ll second your comment above–Louis Armstrong never gets old, ever. Thank you for a fabulous idea!

I can’t wait to listen to your picks, Kirsten! It sounds like we have a very similar taste in music. Which basically means that you’re awesome. ;)

This is a great idea and I can’t wait to look at all the other songs! I hope my picks don’t seem too jaded among all the more obviously romantic ones, but this is what I managed to think of while juggling a teething baby on my lap. (:

I love this Hallie! Thank you for the fun link-up. I Will Be Here by Stephen Curtis Chapman is my all time favorite. My husband and I chose it as “our song” 19 years ago. It’s words have only increased in meaning!
Roxie recently posted..Love Song Link-UpMy Profile

Hallie @ Betty Beguiles July 3, 2012 at 9:58 am

Don’t you love that, Roxie? So many of the songs that Dan and I consider “our” songs mean so much more to me today than they did ten years ago. :)

Thanks for joining in!

Mandi @ Catholic Newlywed July 3, 2012 at 12:19 pm

I really love that Weezer song, it’s been so long since I listened to it! And Ray Charles… his voice is a dream! It makes me so sad to think of him though – I was briefly friends with his youngest son as an early teenager. He was the same age as me, so we would have only been 17 when his dad died. I don’t know if they were close, but I could only think of what it would have been like to lose my father at that age – unbearable!

I’d never heard “London by Night” before but it’s definitely a new favorite. I love to burn CDs of homemade play lists for special occasions – that is definitely going on my 2nd anniversary play list coming up in a few weeks!

A Kiss to Build a Dream on was our first dance (due to an iPod screw up that lost “our song”). So it is now especially meaningful to me. You can read all about it and our other wedding picks in my entry. Thanks so much for hosting this. I’m loving all the songs. And enjoying the trip down memory lane. Time to put my wedding playlist back on my iPhone, I’m thinking….

It’s late, so I’m putting mine up tomorrow :) I love that Jamiroquai makes an appearance. Mine are divided into “our” songs, “songs that I love but Will is ambivalent about but it’s okay because they make me feel sentimental” and one “song that is the theme for our next wedding anniversary party and that will scandalize everyone we know.” Also, Yellow by Coldplay.
