So, you all know sweet-as-pie, relentlessly optimistic Dwija, right? If not, you must go meet her at her home away from home, House Unseen! She’s a fantastic storyteller who does crazy things the rest of us only dream about. Like…
“We bought a house in rural Michigan sight-unseen off the internet. My husband quit his job in California and we moved our kids across the country. Dogs. Goats. Chickens. Homeschooling. Crazy. I like my sacraments Catholic and my beer cold.”
I just think she’s the bee’s knees.
Dwija is currently 18 weeks pregnant with a little fighter of a baby that I’ve already fallen head-over-heels in love with. S/he is definitely a favorite of mine.
Please keep them in your prayers!
One of the best things Dwija can do for her baby right now is to rest, rest, and rest some more. Not an easy thing to do when you have a bunch of little ones who need you 24/7. Her sweet kids and devoted husband have risen to the occasion, though, and are doing every single thing they can to keep her in bed with her feet up.
“Today the following occurred: floors vacuumed; dishes washed; kitchen cleaned; play room and den cleared; wet laundry hung on the drying rack; new rug put under the dining room table; prescription picked up from the pharmacy. Can you guess how many of those things I did myself? None! Zero! Because you guys, my family is so great. It is incredible how struggle can bring out the best in people, even little people. I just couldn’t imagine how it could be, and then it was. Love really does conquer all, even love for a tiny person we’ve never even met.”
Doesn’t that just warm the cockles of your heart?
Warning: There’s no favorite to be found here. I’m breaking all the favorite rules for a good cause.
Did you catch the “wet laundry hung on the drying rack” reference above? That’s because Dwija’s laundry room desperately needs a little TLC. Like, in a no hot water or complete floor or working dryer kind of way.
Can you imagine how difficult that must be right now? I can’t imagine dealing with that even without a high-risk pregnancy (though admittedly, I’m not nearly as much of a rock star as Dwija is).
Thoughful Cari couldn’t either, so she decided to help out all of us who’ve been sitting at our computers biting our fingernails desperately trying to come up with a way to help Dwija and her sweet babe.
The goal is to raise enough money to either get a plumber out there to replace the leaky water valve and/or purchase a dryer.
But the hope is that enough money can be raised to “get that whole pit of dispair gutted, fixed, and finally finished.”
How beautiful would that be?
I’m on Team Hope.
Are you in? I’m in! (Please say you’re in!)
